Patricia Ursprung joins CarneyKelehan focusing on education law

Patricia Ursprung

Patricia A. Ursprung joined Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett and Scherr LLP as an attorney with a practice focusing on education law. Ursprung expands the team of firm lawyers representing boards of education, local superintendents and school systems generally in Maryland.

The team provides counsel and representation in a variety of matters, including student and employee disciplinary hearings and appeals, state and federal litigation and federal and state regulatory compliance. The team also advises school systems with regard to state, federal and constitutional issues.

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, Ursprung practiced education law as an associate attorney with Tabner, Ryan and Keniry LLP in Albany, New York, where she provided general counsel to school districts, addressing issues related to student and staff discipline, policy development, personnel matters, compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and special education matters.

In addition, Ursprung represented plaintiffs in personal injury lawsuits, where she gained litigation experience. She argued appeals before New York’s Third Department, achieving favorable results for her clients.

Ursprung is licensed to practice law in Maryland and New York. She earned her law degree at the Pace University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree at Villanova University.
