Craig Meuser joins CarneyKelehan, expanding firm’s education law practice

Craig Meuser joined Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett & Scherr as an attorney with a practice focusing on school law. Meuser, who brings 23 years of legal experience, expands the firm’s Education Group, representing local boards of education and school systems throughout the state of Maryland.

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, Meuser represented school boards in Connecticut for 15 years as a member of Chinni & Meuser LLC and for nearly eight years as an associate at Shipman & Goodwin LLP.

Meuser has litigated school-related matters in administrative hearings and in federal and state courts. He has experience negotiating labor contracts, defending against employee claims and counseling boards of education about policy and contract matters. He also advises school leaders regarding special education and student accommodation issues as well as student discipline, residency and transportation. His counsel on these and other topics has helped guide Connecticut school districts through the challenges posed by the pandemic over the past year.

Prior to earning his law degree, summa cum laude, from Quinnipiac University, Meuser taught high school social studies for eight years in both public and private settings in Connecticut. Meuser earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from Dartmouth College and his Master of Education in secondary education from the University of Bridgeport.

Meuser is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Connecticut.
