CarneyKelehan’s Peter Fastow elected Real Property Section officer

Peter Fastow, an attorney with Columbia-based law firm Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett & Scherr, was elected secretary and treasurer of the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association.

The Real Property Section brings together professionals with an interest in real property and related law, including laws concerning eminent domain, foreclosure, land acquisition and development, land records, leasing, real estate financing, common interest ownership communities, title and zoning.

Fastow, who has been practicing law in Maryland for almost 30 years, specializes in affordable housing, community development, commercial real estate and finance law. He represents developers, housing authorities and lenders in the real estate development process.

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, Fastow was senior counsel for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City, where he represented the agency in large redevelopment projects and public housing conversions. Previously, Fastow had his own law practice and worked with other private practitioners in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Fastow is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia in addition to Maryland. He earned his law degree from Syracuse University’s College of Law in Syracuse, New York, and his bachelor’s degree in international relations and Russian from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. He lives in Baltimore.
