Claude de Vastey Jones

Claude de Vastey Jones has joined Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett & Scherr, LLP in the litigation section. Her practice focuses on matters involving litigation before Federal and Maryland courts and administrative agencies, including business, commercial, and personal injury matters.

Ms. de Vastey Jones is a seasoned trial lawyer whose talent and good judgment benefits clients.  From initial client interview through negotiated settlement or trial, and, if necessary, post-trial motions, Ms. De Vastey Jones, guides clients through every step of the litigation process. Her case preparation, from investigating the facts, researching issues, and developing effective legal strategies, instills confidence in her clients and garners the respect of her opposing parties. 

Because of her extensive experience, she is uniquely qualified to evaluate and assist in difficult internal employee investigations especially in sensitive areas such as those involving allegations of sexual misconduct, fraud, or embezzlement.

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, she was the Deputy State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County, where she managed a staff of 100, tried a wide range of criminal cases, taught at the Anne Arundel and Howard County police academies and provided counsel to law enforcement agencies.  She also has served in multiple roles in the Office of the State’s Attorney for Howard County, including Chief of the District Court Division.
